New Publication: Filipino Translation of the Manga Rendition of The Life of Oyasama

Volume one of Ang Kuwento ni Oyasama (The tale of Oyasama) has recently been published by Tenrikyo Doyusha Publishing Company. This volume presents a Filipino translation of Part One of Gekiga Oyasama monogatari, newly revised edition (aidoku shinso ban), published in Japanese in 2008.

This manga rendition, which is based on the The Life of Oyasama, is intended to help Filipino readers better understand the cultural and historical background of the latter book in a visually accessible and intuitive manner. This volume of Ang Kuwento ni Oyasama covers chapters 1 through 3 of The Life of Oyasama, mainly focusing on the period from 1798 to 1864—a period that begins with Oyasama’s birth and includes Her being settled as the Shrine of Tsukihi and falling to and living in the depths of poverty.

The Filipino translation has benefited from the contributions from Filipino followers, including those who have studied in Jiba.
