Action Day for “Heart-Clean Campaign” Held

On July 6, Action Day for the Heart-Clean Campaign was held at 503 venues throughout Japan. As a core activity of the Young Men’s Association organized at a local diocese level, this campaign centers around clean-up hinokishin conducted in each district on the first Sunday of every month. The purpose of this activity is to let participants share the joy of faith through performing clean-up hinokishin, which may also serve to reflect that joy to others in their local communities. Every year, the first Sunday of July is designated as the activity’s Action Day. This year, which marks the 90th anniversary of the Young Men’s Association, each diocese and district made special efforts to encourage its members to participate in Action Day, aiming to add momentum to the “Gatherings for Tenri Young Men: Unity and Progress,” which will be held regionally starting in late August.

The Shinbashira, who serves as the president of Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association, visited two venues in Hyogo diocese on that day. At 10:15 A.M., he arrived at the venue in Suma Beach, where eight districts in Kobe city and Akashi district were conducting their Action Day activities together, drawing 545 participants including 136 members of the Young Men’s Association. He walked around the venue while exchanging friendly words with participants who were cleaning the beach by picking up litter.
