On April 4, the Shinbashira and his wife, Mrs. Harue Nakayama, adopted Mr. Daisuke Nakata—the eldest son of Honbu-in Zensuke Nakata—as their son in a ceremony that was conducted in the Foundress’ Sanctuary in the presence of their families and relatives, resident staff members of Church Headquarters, and heads of the directly supervised churches.
The Shinbashira left the Staff Quarters at 9:45 a.m. with the other Nakayamas, the Nakatas, and their relatives to pay respects to God the Parent at the Main Sanctuary.
Then, they proceeded to the Foundress’ Sanctuary, where resident members of Church Headquarters and heads of the directly supervised churches had filled its Connecting Hall and Foundress’ Hall. First, the Shinbashira led the attendees in offering worship to Oyasama. It was followed by a ceremony to exchange cups of sake that symbolized the newly formed parent-child bond in front of Oyasama.
After the ceremony, a service was performed at the Main Sanctuary with the Shinbashira as core.
