Tenri Health Care University’s 8th and final graduation ceremony was conducted on March 12, and 68 students from the Department of Nursing Science and 24 students from the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science received diplomas.
Tenri Health Care University was founded in 2012 by consolidating and reorganizing Tenri Nursing School and Tenri School of Medical Technology, which were both established in 1967, into a single university. The university trained Yoboku in health care based on faith education and has sent about 570 nurses and 219 clinical laboratory technicians to work at medical facilities across Japan. After merging with Tenri University in April 2023, Tenri Health Care University became Tenri University’s Faculty of Medicine.
During the ceremony, Director-in-Chief of Administrative Affairs Zensuke Nakata took the podium to deliver a congratulatory address. Touching upon the university’s founding spirit—taking joy in serving others—and the school’s history, Rev. Nakata asked the graduates to become nurses and clinical laboratory technicians who pay close attention to patients’ states of mind, which are at the roots of suffering, and reach out to patients with love and care, assuring them that they are in good hands.
Rev. Nakata then mentioned that the university would restart as Tenri University’s Faculty of Medicine. Noting that their mission as Yoboku in health care would not change, he stated, “I hope that you will add to the legacy of the school’s history and achievements.”
After the graduation ceremony, each department held a gathering, during which awards were given to graduates with good academic results. Finally, the graduates performed the seated service at the Main Sanctuary of Church Headquarters.
