On October 1, Tenri Yotokuin Children’s Home opened a center to provide general welfare support for children and families in local communities. Commissioned by Nara Prefecture, this center, called Tenri Child and Family Support Center, is one of only two such centers established in the prefecture.
Two counselors and a psychotherapist stay at the center to offer counseling and spiritual support concerning child raising. When necessary, they also introduce a related institution, such as a child consultation center or a child welfare institution, as well as visit the homes of families they counsel.
Established in 1910 as a child welfare institution, Tenri Yotokuin Children’s Home has nurtured children who cannot receive parental care. Since 1995, it has also provided temporary or overnight care for children.
