Three committees were established under the Preparation Committee for the 120th Anniversary of Oyasama to promote activities for the “three years, one thousand days” pre-anniversary season, which will start from the beginning of next year. Those committees are the Committee for Promoting Salvation, the Committee for Sowing Seeds of Sincerity in Oyasato, and the Committee for Studying the Doctrine.
On the occasion of this year’s Spring Grand Service, the Shinbashira told us to “lay the groundwork” for the upcoming 120th Anniversary of Oyasama. He also said: “Now we need to set our sights on the 120th Anniversary of Oyasama as we conduct our activities. Our predecessors saw the anniversaries of Oyasama, which come once every ten years, as opportunities to make further spiritual growth, and they worked together to take full advantage of them. Building on their accomplishments, I should like us to take further strides in our spiritual growth by working in a way that will bring joy to Oyasama.” In February, Tenrikyo Church Headquarters established the Preparation Committee for the 120th Anniversary of Oyasama to discuss activities that will help people work in unison and take concrete steps toward the anniversary.
The Committee for Promoting Salvation will promote activities regarding the “three years, one thousand days” season preceding the anniversary to help Yoboku implement the teachings and make progress toward world salvation. The Committee for Sowing Seeds of Sincerity in Oyasato aims at helping pilgrims feel the joy of sowing seeds of sincerity at Jiba by advancing the Oyasato construction. The Committee for Studying the Doctrine will be in charge of helping Tenrikyo followers to live in a manner that is based on the teachings and devote more time to studying the teachings by reviewing various aspects of the present path. The members of each committee were appointed on April 26.
Reports from those committees and more details for activities to be conducted for the anniversary are to be announced later.
