On April 1, the installation service for Rev. Makoto Hamada as the fourth head of Tenrikyo Philippines Center in Manila was conducted. The event, which was also the center’s April monthly service, drew about 110 people, including Overseas Department Head Yoichiro Miyamori and Asia I Section Chief Shoji Sato.
The service began at 1:00 p.m. The opening of the center’s shrine portals, the placing of the offerings, and the reading of the service prayer were followed by a joyous performance of the seated service and the Teodori. After the service, Rev. Miyamori gave a sermon in which he thanked former head Seiji Yamagishi for his efforts and spoke about how important it is while performing the service to have a mind that is receptive, in unison with others, and spirited.
Rev. Hamada then gave an address in which he appealed to everyone to live each day with a smile while getting along well with family members and being grateful to God.
