Young Men’s Association Activity Guidelines and Plans for 2026

On February 25, Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association held its monthly meeting at Yoki Hall, which was attended by chapter chairmen from directly supervised churches and dioceses as well as members of the steering committee.

While continuing to promote the previous year’s guideline, “Purifying our minds each day,” the association has set three new concrete goals for association activities as follows: “Each person finds one person to help achieve salvation,” “Create opportunities to interact with the teachings,” and “Engage in Hinokishin.” Furthermore, it has established the following key priority: “Gather members to attend the 100th Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association Convention.”

At the meeting, Association President Daisuke Nakayama took the podium to address the participants. Noting that a new journey has begun following the conclusion of the 140th Anniversary of Oyasama, he stated, “For us who are building the path of the future, the next ten-year period will be an extremely important time.” He then proceeded to share the vision that the Young Men’s Association aims to pursue.

As one vision on the path toward our final destination—the realization of the Joyous Life World—he proposed “Conveying the teaching of ‘a thing lent, a thing borrowed’ to the world through salvation work” and expressed the hope that we would strive toward this vision by purifying our minds while following the path.

Continuing, while quoting from the Ofudesaki, he stressed the need to spread the teaching of “a thing lent, a thing borrowed” throughout the world. He stated that at the root of current global conflicts lies a self-centered mind that only cares about one’s own well-being and expressed his desire to bring the teaching of “a thing lent, a thing borrowed” to the world.

He also urged members to engage in both outward missionary work and inward pursuit of the faith, noting that there can be no missionary work without the pursuit of faith. He encouraged them to keep their perspective turned toward their local communities, society, and the world, while simultaneously keeping their hearts focused inward.

In conclusion, President Nakayama stated that if Arakitoryo, pioneers of the path, look toward the world and challenge themselves with what they can do now, God the Parent and Oyasama will surely provide a favorable tailwind. He then encouraged the listeners to embrace the future and walk the path in a way that, in ten years, they can feel they have brought the world closer to the Joyous Life.

Following this, Chairman Motohiro Miyauchi explained the activity goals and the point of emphasis. He spoke of his aspirations to work on the three activity goals throughout the year and to return to Jiba with as many members as possible for the 100th Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association Convention.

The 100th Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association Convention will be held in the Inner Courtyard of Church Headquarters on October 27, starting at 10:00 A.M.
