The 2025 English Translation Conference Held in America

The English translation conference on Shinjitsu no michi: Otasuke hen (The Path of Sincerity: On Salvation Work) was held at the Mission Headquarters in America from November 3 to 7.

The project of translating the book was launched last year due to the dedicated efforts of the members of the translation committees of the America and Canada Diocese and the Hawaii Diocese.

Twelve people participated in this year’s translation conference. The participants from the North America translation committee were Rev. Marlon Okazaki, Rev. Takahiko Hayashi, Rev. Hiroko Okazaki, and Rev. Raymond Brown. Attending on site from the Hawaii translation committee were Rev. Colin Saito and Ms. Janyce Imoto. The online participants were Ms. Sayaka So from the America and Canada Diocese and Ms. Taeko Nakao and Ms. Joy Robinson from the Hawaii Diocese. From the Overseas Department, Translation Section Chief Masanao Nakayama attended via Zoom, and Mr. Masato Kato and Ms. Maki Takahashi joined the conference on site.

Shinjitsu no michi consists of sermons and essays by our predecessors, who, after Oyasama’s withdrawal from physical life, walked wholeheartedly on the path relying upon the teachings and the Divine Model that had been revealed to them. The participants worked together in the sincere hope that the book would serve as a helpful guide for all Yoboku aspiring to grow spiritually.

In preparation for the conference, about 30 members of the translation committees from both the America and Canada Diocese and the Hawaii Diocese worked in groups of three or four to translate a sermon or essay. Each group divided its assigned article into three to four sections for its members to translate individually and, subsequently when individual translations were completed, held a joint editing session to proofread the draft, which was to be discussed at the translation conference.
