On January 25, Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association held its monthly meeting at Yoki Hall. The meeting was attended by chapter chairmen from directly supervised churches and dioceses as well as members of the steering committee.
This year, the association will continue to promote the same guideline as last year, “Purifying our minds each day—Having less dust and more sincerity.”
At the meeting, Association President Daisuke Nakayama took the podium to address the participants. He referred to the association guideline and spoke about why we should purify our minds.
He then emphasized that we will surely be shown wondrous salvation through consistently trying to purify our minds each day. He stated, “I hope that we build even greater momentum in purifying our minds each day so that those who are troubled and suffering as well as those who are connected to us through our salvation work may be shown wondrous salvation.”
He went on to point out that, while we aim to purify our minds by settling the teaching of “a thing lent, a thing borrowed” in our hearts, the process may not always go smoothly. He noted that, when things do not go as planned or when major knots occur, we tend to have complaints or accumulate the dust of the mind. He stated: “When these situations arise, it is important to take time—however long it may be—to seek God’s intention and face our own dust and causality. We should value and carefully savor this time of reflection.”
In conclusion, President Nakayama mentioned that there is one year left until the 140th Anniversary of Oyasama and said, “I want to dedicate myself to the remaining pre-anniversary activities together with all of you so that God the Parent may show us instances of wondrous salvation.”
Following the address, Association Chairman Masazumi Yasui took the podium. He announced that the Young Men’s Association Convention will be held on October 25 under the theme “salvation.” He called on each member to return to Jiba that day with prayers for the salvation of others.
