The Women’s Association held an extraordinary committee meeting on August 29 amid efforts to have “buds sprout” from the “knot” of the passing of its 5th president, Mrs. Masa Nakayama, on August 15. The meeting paved the way for establishing a 31-member presidential recommendation committee in accordance with rules and regulations pertaining to the selection of the president.
This committee met on September 7 and, after deliberation, stated that in the selection of the president it is of great importance to settle the minds of all concerned. Consequently, discussions were held among chairwomen of directly supervised chapters and diocese chapters on September 27, and it was decided in accordance with the consensus of the participants that Mrs. Harue Nakayama, wife of the Shinbashira, be recommended as president.
Shortly afterwards, Mrs. Nakayama was requested to serve as president. She accepted the request on October 10.
The Women’s Association has thus set out anew under the leadership of the new president. The association’s headquarters is to call upon all members to express gratitude for the blessings of God the Parent and Oyasama, unite behind their new president with sincerity, and work toward further growth of the association.
