On March 28, the Students’ Spring Pilgrimage to Jiba, cosponsored by the Students Association and the Students Advisory Committee, was held in the Home of the Parent under the slogan: “Let us nurture ourselves to become Yoboku who will lead the next generation.” Honored by the presence of Mrs. Harue Nakayama, Successor-Designate Daisuke Nakayama, and Mrs. Nobue Nakayama, the convention was attended by 1,583 high school- and college-age students from all parts of the country.
After the singing of the Eight Verses of the Yorozuyo, Students Association Chairperson Yoshiki Hashimoto made opening remarks. Next, Students Advisory Committee Chairperson Yoshisuke Chatani read out a message from the Shinbashira.
In his message, the Shinbashira mentioned that God the Parent endowed us with the mind that we are allowed to use freely and went on to say, “I would like you to implement the teachings with a pure, clear mind and make layer upon layer of efforts to direct your mind to joyousness.”
He also explained that Oyasama had taught us that joy can be born out of difficulties. “I would like you to broaden your mind and cultivate courage so as to be able to seek and find the intention of God the Parent from your knot,” said the Shinbashira.
Lastly, he stressed that God the Parent and Oyasama will always watch over and encourage us. He concluded his message by saying: “While it may take time, you will be able to understand even the things that are hard for you to understand now. Please continue to cultivate your mind without giving up and learn how to implement the teachings in your life.”
This was followed by speeches given by two association members who talked about their joy of faith and the gratitude they felt. Ms. Ena Oiwa, who had been appointed to serve as the association chairperson starting on April 1, then made a pledge on behalf of all association members. Finally, Chairperson Hashimoto recited spiritual goals for the students of the path in front of the participants, who pledged to walk the path of spiritual growth together with their fellow association members.
