Exhibition on Young Men’s Association’s Eurasian Expedition

Between June and December 1968, as one of the great undertakings to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tenrikyo Young Men’s Association, a mission caravan consisting of two cars named “Arakitoryo” (Pioneers of the Path) crossed the Eurasian continent to spread the name of God, encourage Tenrikyo followers living on the continent, and make on-the-spot research on religions and cultures particularly in the region from Europe to the Near East and Middle East. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, one of the two specially equipped Toyotas was exhibited in front of South Right Wing 2 of the Oyasato-yakata building-complex during April and May. Also as part of the exhibition, many photographs and other exhibits are on display and a video is shown in the lobby of the same wing until June 27.

The members of this caravan traveling a total of 35,000 kilometers (21,748 mi.) were Tadakazu Yamada from Shikishima Chapter (now 89); Akio Machida from Nihonbashi Chapter (84); Mitsuo Inui from Koriyama Chapter (77); and Masahiko Iburi from Osaka Chapter (76).
