2019 English Class of Shuyoka

The 45th English Class of Shuyoka (the three-month Spiritual Development Course) began in the Home of the Parent on April 1 as part of the 936th session of Shuyoka. This year, there are 14 participants from 11 countries: two each from Nepal, Myanmar, and Vietnam; and one each from the United States (Hawaii), the United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, Mongolia, the Congo, Tanzania, and Kenya.

The homeroom instructor is Rev. Tyron Susumu Inouye, head of Hawaii Central Church (which belongs to Higashichuo Grand Church). The assistant instructor is Rev. Masao Toda, head of Michiyoshi Branch Church (Tohon Grand Church).

Among other subjects, Rev. Inouye teaches the classes on The Life of Oyasama and faith experience speeches, and Rev. Toda on The Doctrine of Tenrikyo, the service dance, and the Mikagura-uta (The Songs for the Service). Rev. Inouye leads other class activities—such as homeroom, sermon practice, guided tours of the Residence and historical sites, practice in missionary work, and practice in administering the Sazuke—together with the assistant instructor, Rev. Toda.
