Overseas Department Holds Annual Charity Bazaar

The Overseas Department’s International Network for Mutual Help held its 11th charity bazaar in the department’s dining hall on April 8, a Sunday. Since this annual bazaar is already a well-established event in the Home of the Parent, a long line of people including many families and students had already formed on the premises of the Overseas Department well before the venue’s doors were opened at 11:00 A.M. On display in the waiting area were large panels and photographs depicting the international aid activities conducted by the International Network for Mutual Help and other followers’ groups. On sale at the bazaar were several thousand items, which had been donated by followers and non-followers alike. They ranged from smaller items such as kitchen utensils, dishes, cups, toys, clothes, books, and stationery to larger items such as furniture and household appliances. The proceeds from the bazaar, amounting to 450,000 yen, will be used for future international aid activities conducted by the International Network for Mutual Help. In the courtyard in front of the venue were several food booths offering international specialties such as tacos, Thai curry, and Brazilian churrasco. In addition, staff members of the Boys and Girls Association organized games for children, and a variety of singing and dancing performances were given on a specially constructed stage.
