Followers from the United States Join in Tenri University’s Tohoku Relief Project

Tenri University, in conjunction with Tenri Cultural Institute of New York, organized “Tohoku Japan Earthquake Relief Project.” Eleven followers from the United States as well as 27 students from Tenri University visited Miyagi, Japan, from August 1 through 4. The participants had a get-together with people in Nanagahama-cho and cleaned up the shoreline of trash and debris. During the get-together, they conducted some games, including watermelon splitting, and also presented children in the town with wristbands on which the message “UNITED WE AID” was printed. Executive Director of Tenri Cultural Institute of New York, Yoichi Fukui, who took part in the project, said, “We will continue our support for relief work through this joint project.”
